Restorative Iyengar Yoga
- Calm the nervous system and find deep rest
- Gentle warm-up, followed by longer-held restorative postures
- Using props (blocks, belts, bolsters, wall)
This class offers a chance to practice Iyengar yoga at a slower pace through restorative, calming but energizing, well supported asanas.
This class is perfect if you feel the need to slow down, recharge, and restore balance, or if you are in a process of healing—physically, mentally, or spiritually.
You might want to join this class when you are recovering from a minor injury or illness, when there is weakness, fatigue or a burn-out condition or in the presence of minor physical complaints (backache, knee pain, etc).
We move from asana to asana slowly and with the help of supports and props like the wall, belts, bolsters, blankets and the floor.
We do learn and practice supported inversions (head and shoulder stand) if the physical and medical conditions allow for it.
These practices help to bring stillness to the mind and the nervous system whilst soothing the muscular and nervous systems.
Restorative Iyengar Yoga is open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. No prior yoga experience is needed—just a willingness to practice.
