Yoga for beginners

  • Quiet class, 60-75 minutes
  • Extensive explanation and practice in the basic postures
  • Use of props and wall
  • Building up to vinyasa flow
  • Forward and backward bends, twists and balance postures

Thinking about starting yoga or want to explore if yoga is for you? Are you recovering from a (long-term) injury or illness and want to pick up your yoga practice at a leisurely pace? Then this is the class for you! In a slow pace (in the style of Hatha Yoga / Iyengar) we take you through the basic postures in a comprehensive manner: forward bends, twists, backward bends and balance postures. Gradually we work toward combining individual postures (asanas) into a flow of movement and breathing (vinyasa). We explore the postures with the use of various props: blankets, blocks, straps, pillows and bolsters. In this class we also often work on the wall to study and practice the postures in a different way. In this way we also further develop our body awareness. Thanks to the small groups (max. 8 people), you get a lot of personal guidance during class.

If you have mastered the basic postures after a while, you can possibly move on to the Vinyasa Basics class. Or you just stay in this class to practice and refine your practice ;-).
