These classes focus on calming the nervous system and releasing stress in the body. Classes begin with a gentle flow of movements in which postures (asanas) naturally follow one another. Much attention is paid to breathing during movements to encourage the meditative aspect of the practice. Gradually you are guided to postures that we hold for longer periods of time (in the style of 'restorative yoga' and 'yin yoga'). Here we let the self-healing properties of the body do their work. In restorative yoga we work a lot with 'props': bolsters, pillows, blocks, straps and blankets. We end the class with a relaxation pose (savasana).
