These classes focus on calming the nervous system and releasing stress from the body. Each class starts with a soft flow of movements in which asanas (postures) are naturally sequenced. There is a lot of attention for the breath during the movements, to stimulate the meditative aspect of the practice (we also call this ‘meditation in action’). Gradually we will work towards longer-held postures in the style of ‘restorative yoga’ and ‘yin yoga‘. Through slowing down we activate the parasympathetic part of the nervous system and promote the self-healing abilities of our body. In restorative yoga and yin yoga we create support by the means of ‘props’: bolsters, pillows, blocks, belts and blankets. We end class with a relaxation posture (savasana).
