What are we truly practicing when we practice yoga? Bending forwards and back? Sitting still? Balancing on one leg? The physical practice of asana is just your gateway into the spiritual lifepractice that yoga is. Pick maybe one of these and bring it into your daily life: ahimsa (non-harming), satya (truthfulness), asteya (non-stealing), brachmacharya (abstinence), aparigraha (non-hoarding), saucha (purity), santosha (contentment), tapas (generating heat to purify), svadhyaya (self study) and ishvara pranidhanah (surrender to something bigger than yourself). How to find a strong foundation in your practice? In July we will focus on the first two limbs of Ashtanga yoga: Yama and Niyama, principles for ethical and moral conduct.
