Hey there fellow yogis!
My name is Hjalmar and I’m proudly part of the 108 family as a karma yogi! I would love to tell you a bit more about my yoga journey and hopefully hear yours in the studio as well. Cause it’s these kind of stories that I love the most!
Yoga came into my life as a miraculous gift, just at the right time. Funny how these things happen sometimes! Around 2,5 years ago I found myself in a very challenging part of my life, where everything I’ve known was flipped upside down. Yoga was welcoming me with open arms and it gave me a space to be (with) myself. After tons of at home yoga on my bright pink and second hand yoga mat, I was ready for my first class! And so I found myself in the old 108 studio. And boy oh boy… thinking back about it already gives me tears in my eyes. I found a place to feel and release. I found community and was ready to start healing. Not only physically did I start to feel changes, but mentally I started to notice I was much more connected to myself and the world around me. I felt more resilient than ever before and I was ready to build a future for myself.
A couple of years before all of this another big gift came in to my life: Slacklining (tightrope walking between trees). Beside yoga this is my other big passion, finding balance in the air while swaying around. For me it’s a form of meditation, while I float. I believe slacklining was the start of my awareness journey, yoga gave me just a push into the right direction. My interests in movement & play started to grow every single day. A fire in me had started to burn.
The connection between movement and mental health was something I wanted to develop myself in. Since it was giving me everything I’ve been looking for since a very young age. So I started studying again, a bachelor Psychomotor Therapy. A study I probably never would have found, if I didn’t allow yoga into my life. I think it’s beautiful how we can make these decisions in life, not knowing how much it would change things. Tiny steps now, slowly creating our future.
Studio 108 was the place I had my very first class and it was also the place I went to when I needed it most. It feels like home! And then it clicked: I was looking for community, wanted to help in the studio & deepen my practice. So I asked Sharon to become a karma yogi, she welcomed me with open arms. And honestly, joining as a karma yogi was the best decision I could’ve made. It gave me a place to just be.
More than enough about me! I would love to hear more about you as well. So find me in the studio for a chat about life, vintage fashion, yoga, philosophy, slacklining, psychology, plants, thrifting, hula hoop, mental health, creativity or literally anything else you would like to chat about.
I’ll have a cup of tea ready for you!
