My name is Gemma and I grew up in a sunny and windy little city called Reus, near Barcelona in Spain. I always admired people who practiced yoga, but I saw the practice of yoga as something unattainable.
When I moved to the Netherlands, I was curious to try the asana practice, as if it was calling me. A few months after moving to Amsterdam and after trying several yoga studios, I stumbled upon Studio 108, which quickly became my refuge and safe space. When Sharon announced that they were moving to a new location, I was very excited for her and for the future of the studio. Once the move was complete and I was attending classes in the new space, I felt the urge to offer my help, as a way of giving back the amazing things that the studio, the yoga practice and Sharon had given me.
And so I began my path as a Karma Yogi. So, behind the desk you can expect to find someone full of energy, ready for small talk or a deep conversation, up to you! Ready to help if you need anything, so you can always talk to me and ask me anything.
Finding Studio 108 was like finding myself, I still remember that rainy day when I almost cancelled my first class in the studio because the weather was not great and now one of the things I have learnt and carry with me is to embrace the weather. One of my favourite quotes connected to the above is: “The only constant in life is change” (Heraclitus). Which serves me every day.
I hope to see you soon in the studio and hopefully we can share some asana practice together.
Namaste
