Bhakti Yoga is one of the four paths of yoga and involves the spiritual practice of devotion (worship). The magic of the universe can be found in all forms of creation: humans, animals, plants, the earth and the sky. Bhakti Yoga assumes that we are all interconnected. An awareness of this, and opening the heart is central to the practice of Bhakti yoga. An important aspect of Bhakti Yoga is the chanting of mantras. Literally, “mantra” means “crossing the mind. Most yogis who discover mantra chanting are instantly hooked. Over time, you will find that mantras naturally become an important part of your yoga practice. You will be amazed at the depth you can achieve in your yoga and meditation practice by repeating ancient Sanskrit mantras.

In this class we start with a short pranayama breathing practice. Then we warm up the body in a sun salutation flow practice, to mantras that support the postures. After this we will chant mantras together, and you will learn about yoga philosophy and the background stories of these mantras.

There is no need to be an experienced singer (of mantras), just come with an open mind and heart.
